Did you know websites didn't look the same before ? Yep, the golden days of the web, which are called "web0 pages" today. Sadly, these days are already over...

Back in the days, web pages used to :

  • Be organic :
    • Content was mostly made by hand, borrowed only a few times
    • Links would lead to other pages without relying on SEO, making discovery and browsing organic too
  • Be more personal :
    • Pages used to represent their owners more closely than today
    • Almost anyone could have a website, some ISPs even offered web hosting with home internet subscriptions
    • Things were truly decentralized, so there weren't big control or failure points
  • Not depend on other websites :
    • Content was static
    • References were mostly local, only a few of them were external
  • Not be profitable (and that's a good thing, considering how today's "normal" websites use your personal data to make money with targeted ads)

Things should have remained like this, what's stopping us from making the web the way it should be ?

Just as expected from a web0 site, this one was written by hand in plain HTML and a little bit of CSS. Why not try to do it too ?
